- Making an Impact: Giancarlo Marcopoli’s Experience with CCT Atlanta
When Giancarlo Marcopoli, an NYU Stern MBA alum and Alumni Chair in Atlanta, first heard about the CCT Atlanta experience, he didn’t quite know how impactful his journey would be. It all started with a simple connection at a board meeting, and it quickly evolved into a meaningful commitment to using his skills for the greater good. In a recent testimonial, Giancarlo shared how he was introduced to CCT Atlanta through the Atlanta Business School Alliance, where he met Tom Reeder, one of CCT’s leaders. It didn’t take long for Giancarlo to be intrigued by CCT’s mission. As he put it, “I believe nonprofits play an invaluable role in society. The work they do is amazing, but the effort required to manage them is substantial. People have to wear many hats and are almost always strapped for resources, time, and talent.” CCT Atlanta gave Giancarlo the opportunity to change that. Volunteering allowed him to directly support organizations in need, using his expertise to solve real challenges. His most recent project? Developing a marketing strategy for Habitat for Humanity’s ReStores. Alongside his CCT team, Giancarlo worked on a comprehensive plan that included customer research, persona development, tactical recommendations, and even AI-generated campaign visuals. It was a project that challenged him in the best way, even tapping into marketing skills he hadn’t used in a while. “It was like slipping into the shoes of a marketing strategist for nonprofit retail,” he shared, “exercising those muscles again.” What stands out most about CCT Atlanta is the spirit of collaboration. Giancarlo described how his team, composed of volunteers who initially didn’t know each other, came together seamlessly. They divided responsibilities based on their strengths but quickly gelled as one cohesive unit, creating a package that was far greater than the sum of its parts. “This was only possible by working under the CCT umbrella,” Giancarlo emphasized, “allowing us to create something so much more valuable than what we could have contributed individually.” Volunteering with CCT Atlanta is not just about helping nonprofits; it’s a chance to grow personally and professionally. Giancarlo noted that his experience enriched his life, provided new industry exposure, and introduced him to different perspectives, all while working alongside a talented and supportive group of people. It’s a reasonable time commitment, but the impact is immense. As Giancarlo looks forward to continuing his journey with CCT Atlanta, he hopes others will be inspired to join and put their talents to use. “If you’re looking to make an impact outside of donating money or working in the field, volunteering with CCT is a way to make a difference. It will help organizations in dire need of your skills and will enrich your life in ways you might not expect.” Watch Giancarlo’s full story in the video below, and consider how you can be part of the CCT Atlanta family, making a difference for incredible causes every day.
